Tips to Identify Scams and Protect Yourself

How to Identify a Scam:

  • Unsolicited Communications: Be cautious of emails, calls, or texts from unknown sources claiming to represent the conference or offering special hotel deals.
  • Fake Websites: Fraudsters may create fake booking websites that look similar to official ones.
  • Pressure Tactics: Scammers often use urgent language, such as “limited rooms remaining” or “act immediately,” to rush you into making a decision.
  • Requests for Sensitive Information: Be wary if asked for unnecessary personal information, like your Social Security Number or additional payment details, beyond what’s required to confirm a booking.

To Protect Yourself:

  • Only book through the links available on this page by the verified hotel partners listed.
  • Double-check the sender’s email address and ensure it matches the official domain.
  • Avoid clicking on suspicious links in unsolicited emails or messages. Instead, navigate directly to the official conference or hotel website.
  • Contact the event organizer if you are unsure about the legitimacy of any communication.

Report Suspicious Activity:

If you suspect a phishing attempt, please report it immediately to aaai26@aaai.org.
We are committed to ensuring a secure and seamless experience for all attendees. Stay vigilant and safeguard your information.
