Ethical Guidelines for AAAI-25 Reviewers
All persons involved in the evaluation of submissions to the AAAI conference and its associated events are required to adhere to the AAAI ethical review guidelines, below. If for any reason you are unable to accept these guidelines, then we ask that you notify the program chairs immediately. I acknowledge my responsibility to uphold ethical standards in my role.
- I will strive to be fair, unbiased, and objective in my evaluation of submissions. I will treat all authors with respect and provide constructive feedback in a professional and courteous manner.
- I will disclose any conflicts of interest that may affect my ability to provide an impartial review. If I am not qualified to review a paper or feel that my objectivity may be compromised, I will decline the invitation to review.
- I acknowledge that it is not permissible to review submissions that I suspect to be authored by authors from my own institution, or with whom I work, or have worked, closely.
- I commit to provide an impartial review of all papers. If I suspect, or am aware of, a conflict of interest which may include prior co-authorship, a close professional relationship, or a personal relationship, I will promptly inform the chairs and exclude myself from the peer-review process.
- I commit to review all papers objectively and without personal criticism of the author. I will also strive to offer suggestions for improvement that will enhance the quality of the paper and to provide supporting arguments to my review.
- I will evaluate papers solely on their academic merit, without regard to the authors’ personal characteristics, affiliations, or backgrounds.
- I will maintain the confidentiality of the review process and respect the privacy of the authors and all involved in the evaluation. I will not use information obtained during the review process for personal advantage or disclose it to unauthorized individuals.
- I will carefully check the submissions for any indications of plagiarism, and if any such instances are suspected, I will inform the chairs immediately. I understand that plagiarism is a serious ethical violation and will take all necessary steps to ensure that the papers I review are original and make proper use of citations and quotes.
- I will adhere to the guidelines and deadlines set forth by AAAI-25 Chairs and provide timely and thorough feedback to the authors.
- Overall, I commit to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct in my role as a reviewer for conference papers, and I take this responsibility seriously.
