3D Laser Scanning for Image-Guided Neurosurgery

This paper describes on-going work by the Environmental Research Institute of Michigan (ERIM) and The University of Michigan Medical Center to develop a new approach to frameless stereotsxy, in which patient-image registration is accomplished using a 3D laser imaging sensor and precaptured CT scans. Alternative methods under development for frameless stereotactic neurosurgery are reviewed and compared.
