This paper provides an overview of recent work on qualitative approaches to decision theory. There is a good deal of basic work to be done on the ideas that are emerging from this work before we can apply them with much confidence in interactive problem solving. This abstract does not claim to do that work; it is meant to provide some references to the literature and a startingpoint for discussion.
