CollagenTM is Java middleware for building mixed- initiative problem solving assistants, based on Grosz and Sidner’s SharedPlan theory of collaborative dis- course. The implementation includes a discourse state representation, comprised of a focus stack and a plan tree, as well as algorithms for discourse interpretation (including plan recognition) and discourse generation. Collagen has been used to build over a dozen research prototype systems.
