In this paper we describe an ongoing collaborative project that seeks to develop an intelligent language aid for people who use augmentative communication devices and have expressive language difficulties due to cognitive impairments. The integration of natural language processing technology will provide expanded grammatical output from telegraphic input in a practical communication system.
