Abstract:
EagleEyes is a system that allows the user to control the computer through electrodes placed on the head. For people without disabilities it takes about 15 minutes to learn to control the cursor sufficiently to spell out your name with an onscreen keyboard. We currently are working with a dozen children with severe disabilities to teach them to use EagleEyes to control computer software for entertainment, communication, and education. The design of the interface for the software is a serious issue.
