  • February 17, 2017: Accepted authors, invited speakers, symposium participants, and other invited attendees must register.

The Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence, in cooperation with Stanford University’s Department of Computer Science, is pleased to present the 2018 Spring Symposium Series, to be held Monday through Wednesday, March 26-28, 2018 at Stanford University. The titles of the seven symposia are as follows:

  • AI and Society: Ethics, Safety and Trustworthiness in Intelligent Agents
  • Artificial Intelligence for the Internet of Everything
  • Beyond Machine Intelligence: Understanding Cognitive Bias and Humanity for Well-Being AI
  • Data Efficient Reinforcement Learning
  • The Design of the User Experience for Artificial Intelligence (the UX of AI)
  • Integrated Representation, Reasoning, and Learning in Robotics
  • Learning, Inference, and Control of Multi-Agent Systems

ALL ATTENDEES MUST PREREGISTER. All accepted authors, invited speakers, symposium participants, and other invited attendees must register by February 9, 2018. Participation will be open to active participants as well as interested individuals on a first-come, first-served basis. All registrations should be completed by March 2, 2018. Registrations will be accepted until March 26 via the online form, but earlier registration is preferred. The conference registration fee includes admission to one symposium, one copy of the electronic technical report, coffee breaks, and the opening reception.

Payment Information

Payment of registration fees is required at the time of registration. Checks and bank transfers must be in US dollars. Checks (drawn on US bank) or international money orders should be made out to AAAI. American Express, MasterCard, VISA, and Discover are also accepted. Registration applications must be submitted online via the URL below. If you qualify for student rates, you will be asked to submit your proof of student status via the online form.

Refund Requests

The deadline for refund requests is March 9, 2018. No refunds will be granted after this date. All refund requests must be made in writing to sss18@aaai.org . A $100.00 processing fee will be levied on all refunds granted.

When you arrive at Stanford, please pick up your badge at the Spring Symposium Series registration desk, which will be located in Room 124 of the Stanford History Building (200).

Please identify yourself as an AAAI Spring Symposium Series attendee to qualify for the reduced rates. Ground Transportation and Parking

SuperShuttle

24 hour van service to and from San Francisco to Palo Alto. The shared ride fare from San Francisco Airport to Palo Alto is $29 per person one-way plus $10 per additional passenger. Stanford Marguerite Shuttle

The Stanford University Marguerite Shuttle Bus provides service from several points along El Camino Real, the CalTrain station, and other surrounding locations to the Stanford Oval as well as transportation around the Stanford Campus. CalTrain

CalTrain runs between San Francisco and San Jose, with stops in Palo Alto starting at 5:00 AM with the last train leaving San Francisco at 11:59 PM (weekdays). For up-to-date fare information and timetables, please visit the CalTrain website or call 1-800-660-4287.

Parking

AAAI has arranged for symposium attendee parking in the Galvez Lot on the Stanford campus, March 26–28, at a discounted cost of $8.00 per day. All symposium attendees will receive a parking coupon code, which may be used to secure the discounted parking rate for their numbered space in the Galvez lot. Attendees will pay the fee directly at one of the pay machines at the lot. The machines accept MasterCard, Visa, or exact cash/coins only. A map of the Galvez lot location will be mailed to all registrants prior to the symposium. Registrants can also refer to the parking map available on the Stanford University’s Visitor Information page. Note that Stanford has very strict parking guidelines for visitors. The AAAI Spring Symposium parking coupon is valid only in the Galvez lot.

Note:If you park in the SSS-18 designated parking lot, you will need to take the campus shuttle (Marguerite) to the Spring Symposium registration area and sessions. Please allow an extra thirty minutes travel time in your schedule for the shuttle.
