Abstract:
In a fascinating autobiographical interview, Patricia Churchland tells us that, during the 1970’s, "I just could not see how knowing about the brain could fail to shed light on cognitive processes." What we have here is a failure of imagination. In this talk, I propose to explain how knowing about the brain can fail to shed light on cognitive processes.
