In which it is proposed that a single mathematical operation — determining compositions of transformational mappings -- underlies the common cortical neuroanatomy of brain areas responsible for vision, motor control, and thought. A biologically plausible mechanism that implements this mathematical operation is called the map-seeking circuit.
