Finding Referents While Following Directions

This paper describes a simulated robot that can follow simple directions. 3-D graphics allow the user to watch the robot’s actions. I have collected a small number of dialogues, in which subjects direct the robot through a building to a given destination. The examples in this paper are drawn from this experiment.
