Dear AAAI Members,

AAAI is pleased to announce the continuation of the AAAI Special Awards program for 2013. AAAI is seeking nominations for the following three awards in 2013: The Feigenbaum Prize, the Classic Paper Award, and the Distinguished Service Award. The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 15, 2013. All AAAI members are encouraged to nominate candidates for these awards. Please see http://www.aaai.org/Awards/awards.php for further information and nomination forms. The awards will be presented at the opening ceremony at AAAI-13 in Bellevue, Washington, USA, next July.

2013 Feigenbaum Prize (http://www.aaai.org/Awards/feigenbaum.php)
The AAAI Feigenbaum Prize is awarded biennially to recognize and encourage outstanding Artificial Intelligence research advances that are made by using experimental methods of computer science. The "laboratories" for the experimental work are real-world domains, and the power of the research results are demonstrated in those domains. The Feigenbaum Prize may be given for a sustained record of high-impact seminal contributions to experimental AI research; or it may be given to reward singular remarkable innovation and achievement in experimental AI research. The prize is $10,000 and is provided by the Feigenbaum Nii Foundation.

2013 AAAI Classic Paper Award (http://www.aaai.org/Awards/classic.php)
The AAAI Classic Paper award honors the author(s) of paper(s) deemed most influential, chosen from a specific conference year. Each year, the time period considered advances by one year. The 2013 award will be given to the most influential paper(s) from the Twelfth National Conference on Artificial Intelligence, held in 1994 in Seattle, Washington, USA. For a list of eligible papers, please refer to the AAAI Digital Library at http://www.aaai.org/Library/AAAI/aaai94contents.php.

2013 AAAI Distinguished Service Award (http://www.aaai.org/Awards/distinguished.php)
The AAAI Distinguished Service award recognizes one individual each year for extraordinary service to the AI community. Areas of service could include, but are not limited to: society service, service as an editor, conference organization, representation of AI in other organizations (such as CRA, ACM, or IEEE), or influential service as a government agency contract monitor or program director, resulting in positive effects on the field of AI. Nominees must be current members of AAAI.

We hope that you will take the time to nominate your colleagues for these important honors. Please feel free to contact AAAI at awards13@aaai.org for further information.

Regards,

Carol Hamilton
