AI and Large Scale Scientific Experiments

Scott Clearwater

As ever larger scientific endeavors are made, it becomes even more crucial that they be designed, performed, and analyzed very carefully. Artificial intelligence (AI) techniques are seen as a methodology for automating some of the tasks involved in large scale scientific experimentation. Scientific experimentation, in turn, is seen as a methodology for improving the capabilities of AI through the special demands it makes. This paper discusses how large scale scientific experimentation can be helped by AI and vice-versa.
