This paper describes Sun-Ray V, an intelligent system designed to support the container trucking companies in the management and control of their operations, especially during the planning. The purpose of the paper is to describe briefly the business domain, the motivation for computerization, some of the main design considerations of the system and the constraint programming approach. The paper also presents some of the problems encountered during deployment, how they are overcome and the lessons learned from the process. Finally, it discusses some of the benefits that resulted from the operational usage of the system.
